Component Details

• Part Name: Volume Button Flex Cable (or Volume Flex FPCB)
• Samsung Part Number (SKU): Look for the part number GH59-15863A.
• Function: This is a flexible ribbon cable that sits inside the phone’s casing, usually along the side edge. It contains the actual miniature switch mechanisms (buttons) that register a press when you push the external volume keys.
• Symptom of Failure: The volume-up or volume-down button stops working, only works intermittently, or gets stuck, even though the external button cap moves freely.
• Replacement Notes:
  • The flex cable includes the internal buttons themselves.
  • The external physical plastic/metal button caps are separate pieces, often called the “Volume Button Outer” or “Volume Key Set.” If the problem is that the physical button caps are missing or broken, you would need this separate set.
  • Replacing the flex cable requires opening the phone, which usually involves removing the back cover and disconnecting internal components. Professional installation is generally recommended.
