Samsung Galaxy A16 5G Ear Speaker Flex Cable

Ear Speaker Flex Cable for the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G.¹

Component Breakdown

• Part Name: Ear Speaker Flex Cable or Earpiece Speaker.
• Function: This component is the small speaker located at the top of the phone, used to hear the voice of the person you are talking to during a phone call. The “flex cable” refers to the wiring ribbon that connects the speaker to the phone’s main circuit board.
• Integrated Components: On many Samsung phones, the ear speaker flex cable assembly may also include the proximity sensor (which turns the screen off when held to your face) and the ambient light sensor (which controls automatic brightness). If you have issues with these sensors, this single component replacement often fixes all three.
• Symptom of Failure: You would replace this part if you cannot hear the caller’s voice clearly, or if the sound is distorted, faint, or completely silent through the earpiece (not the main loudspeaker).

Repair and Replacement

• Difficulty: Replacing the ear speaker on the Galaxy A16 5G typically requires removing the back cover, screws, and potentially the main board shield to access the component, which sits near the top of the phone’s frame.
• Recommendation: While easier than some repairs, it is still an internal component replacement. It is recommended to consult a professional technician if you are not experienced with mobile phone disassembly to avoid damaging other internal ribbon cables or the screen assembly.
