Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Microphone

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features a multiple-microphone system, which includes:

1. Main Microphone: Typically located on the bottom of the phone, used primarily for standard phone calls and general voice pickup.
2. Secondary Microphone: Usually located on the top of the phone, often used for noise cancellation during calls and for stereo audio recording.
3. “Hidden” Microphone (Audio Zoom Mic): There is also a small, less-advertised microphone often located near the rear camera array.¹ Its main function is for Audio Zoom when recording videos, allowing the phone to focus audio pickup on the subject being zoomed in on.²

In addition to the hardware, the phone’s software provides features to enhance microphone usage:

• Stereo Sound Recording: The multiple microphones enable stereo audio recording for video.
• Audio Zoom: As mentioned, this feature uses a dedicated microphone to enhance the audio of a subject as you zoom in while recording a video.³
• Microphone Modes (for video calls): You can often choose between modes like Standard, Voice Focus (to reduce background noise), and sometimes Full Spectrum (to capture all surrounding sound) during video calls on supported apps.
• Voice Recorder App Features: The native Voice Recorder app offers features like live transcription using AI.⁴
